On April 2, I went for a walk with my dog, Beau. I thought that it might rain, but it started to hail! Hail! That doesn't happen very often. It was almost like snow on the ground. What is the weather like at your house this week? You can see the weather pictures that we use in our class here (scroll down to find them near the bottom of the page). Do you remember when our class made a graph of the weather? We kept track of the weather each day, from when we started school after Winter Break in January, all the way until just before Spring Break in March? There were lots of cloudy days, a few less sunny days, some rainy days and only 5 days when it snowed. Print or make a calendar page for April. You can find one here. Keep track of what the weather was each day: e.g. cloudy, sunny, rainy, snowy. You can do all days, or just Monday to Friday. Do you think that it is likely, or unlikely, to snow in April? Talk about this with your family. At the end of April, you can send me a photo of your calendar, and count how many days of each type of weather you drew. You can also draw a picture of your favourite type of weather, and an activity that you like to do during that kind of weather. Un défi - A Challenge, if you want! In English, we sometimes say: "April showers bring May flowers." In French, there is a different saying about April: "En avril, ne te découvre pas d’un fil." The literal translation is in April, don't remove a thread of your clothing! Or less literally, warm weather in April is not to be trusted! Image by mohamed Hassan from Pixabay If you'd like, you can watch this short video about spring - le printemps. It talks about some of the colours you might see as you take a walk in the springtime, and explains what this saying means. What colours of flowers can you find on a walk near your house? Can you draw a picture of what you find? Categories All
